Hi, I’m Lidor Shtruzer- Nice to Meet You!

I was born in Eilat in 1996, and my love for the sea began early. As a teenager, I joined the “Guardians of the Gulf” program, which focused on protecting the marine environment through education, outreach, and cleanup dives.

In 2017, I dove into the world of technical diving, and by 2019, I earned certifications as a Trimix diver (TDI) using a closed-circuit system and as a Divemaster (SDI). That same year, I joined the Underwater Missions Unit (YALTAM). After completing intensive training, I became a certified diving officer and served as Deputy Commander of a diving platoon.

By 2022, I became a diving instructor certified by the Israeli Diving Federation and took on the role of Head of Training in the unit. After eight incredible years of service, I was honorably discharged in 2023 with the rank of Captain.

My journey in academia:

Following my military service, I decided to dive even deeper into my passion for marine biology. I’m now pursuing a master’s degree in biology at Bar-Ilan University, where I focus on coral research. My studies explore how corals respond to environmental changes, with a particular interest in gene expression in mesophotic (low-light) environments.

In 2024, I was elected as a board member of the Israeli Diving Federation, where I volunteer to promote diving culture and marine conservation in Israel.

Whether through research, diving, or training, my goal is to protect and explore the fascinating underwater world while sharing its wonders with others.
